Book Tour & Review: Draw Me In (Giveaway)

Welcome to the Draw Me In blog tour! This book is a New Adult Contemporary Romance novel. It is set to be published January 7th, 2014.

Draw Me In by Megan Squires
He’s a young, up and coming businessman with the keys to his family’s Italian wine enterprise.

I’m a fine arts student, navigating life in the Big Apple, my pencil and sketchpad in hand.

We meet. We fall in love.

But it’s not that story.

Sometimes, by a rare gift of fate, two lives cross paths. And hey, if that happens to occur when staring at Michelangelo’s naked masterpiece, even better. We can tell our future children how a seventeen-foot tall marble guy named David brought us together.

But there’s always more to a relationship than its beginning and ever after. In life, there’s a whole lot of backstory. There are ex-fiancés and hot roommates and family members whose advice continues, even beyond the grave.

When you say you love someone, it’s never just that one person you’re saying it to. And it’s never just that one moment that sets everything in motion.

There is always more that draws you in.

If you want a book that will make you laugh, cry, and experience every emotion in between, this book is for you.

From the first few sentences, the writing style really grabbed my attention. There were many things in this novel that in others would annoy me, but the type of writing and the characters really made me forget that.

Julie is hilarious. Not only is she awkward and “weird,” she completely owns it. She really doesn’t care much about what other people think. She is so comfortable in her skin that I’m a little jealous. Honestly, Julie is the type of person I’d want to be best friends with. She’s the type of person I’d love to hang out with. The things she does and the things she says would be very confusing if we weren’t in her head, but since we are, it’s just plain hilarious.

Leo is amazing. I love the fact that he takes Julie’s quirks in stride, and even more than that, he accepts her completely. It’s heart-warming to see how much Leo and Julie are perfect for each other. I also loved Leo’s backstory. It was heart-breaking and added to him as a character. It made him more three-dimensional and I came to care for him like Julie did.

There are hilarious moments, where you’ll be laughing out loud and the people around you will stare at you like your crazy. There are sad moments, where you’ll be close to tears because of the characters’ pain. And you’ll also be really happy, where you have a smile on your face that’s growing by the second.

Honestly, though? The way everything was written was one of my favorite parts of this novel. As I mentioned before, without this particular writing style, a few things would annoy me. The first being the almost-insta-love that happened. They’ve only really known each other for a short while when they realize that they’re falling in love. In any other book, this would annoy me to bits. I don’t particularly enjoy insta-love, because to me it’s not realistic. But for this book, it was written in a way that if they hadn’t fallen in love that quickly, I would have been disappointed. Another was the few inconsistencies found in the book. There were very few (like in one scene near the beginning, Harry, a customer, asks Julie when she’d be going back to Italy and she never responds, instead saying something else to him) but I barely noticed because of how good the writing was.

I loved that this was a simple romance story. It was about two people overcoming their personal problems to make their relationship succeed. Many times a romance becomes about more than just the two people, it becomes about them fighting an outside force or something, and it was a huge relief to read a romance novel that was just about the two people resolving their issues to be together.

If you want a sweet, feel-good, heart-warming romance story that will make you laugh, make you cry, and make you love, this is the book for you.
